Blessings and Benedictions

Each Sunday, a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) pastor offers a blessing and benediction for the week ahead. We hope that these will inspire you and nurture your faith.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Adriene Thorne

Sometimes, even our own hearts are waiting for us. Waiting for us to remember who we are—beloved, radiant, created to shine. Waiting for us to notice the dull places, the tired corners, the parts of us that have forgotten their light. Our spirits are longing for us to return to ourselves, to rediscover the shimmer God placed within us at the beginning of creation. Waiting for us to reveal God’s glory in the light that flickers inside us still.

Let us do everything with love. How many times so we say it?

Hagamos todo en amor. ¿Cuántas veces lo decimos?

God knows your name.  God knows your nickname. God knows every name you have been or ever will be called. You have lots of names and God knows them all because God knows and loves you.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Rebecca Mallozzi

I got into quilting sometime in 2007. It was something my mom did and I always swore I couldn’t (wouldn’t) quilt because I didn’t have the patience. And then I decided I wanted to try something and I was absolutely hooked. I loved picking out fabric and learning how to cut fabric to make the blocks needed for the project. Like most hobbies, my skills grew as I learned more things. Recently, I’ve been reading more about the stories behind certain quilt blocks. Most traditional quilt blocks have names (there are variations of the themes, too).

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Jeff Sockwell

Sacred twilight, gracefully giving way to the rising of the morning sun,

Unfolding the gift of a new day, revealing the glory in all creatures.

Awakening the soul, sounding the eternal, rekindling hope.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Jeff Sockwell

It knows the way
It remembers the path, well-trodden, though perhaps forgotten
Leading you home, to the center, to love, to God
