Blessings and Benedictions
Each Sunday, a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) pastor offers a blessing and benediction for the week ahead. We hope that these will inspire you and nurture your faith.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Jeff Sockwell
May the wondrous light of the sun, moon, and stars draw you close to the light of the One we call Jesus Christ, illuminating the world in love.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Adriene Thorne
For those of us who live in the northeastern part of the USA, the seasons are changing. Trees are putting on their autumn outerwear and forests are a riot of red, gold, orange, and brown. In the rhythm of time, God reminds us of the beauty in things that change, the beauty in what is fleeting. Like the death of loved one, this time of year reminds us that not everything was created to last. Loss can be icy and sharp, but also oddly tender in the warm spaces our beloveds leave behind. Maya Angelou said about loss, “We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.” May it be so.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Ivan Herman
Who are you that the Divine Creator would be mindful of you?
What are you compared to the earth, moon, and stars?
You are the work of holy fingers and a wholly loving heart!
The desire of the Divine Beloved for you is greater than you can imagine!

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Bill Davis
Great and Almighty God, how often have our words or our silences harmed? For from the same mouth, we utter both blessings and curses. So often we speak and do not listen. Closing ourselves off from the wisdom of our neighbors and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Lord walk with us to be better advocates, guide us to be more thoughtful friends, and encourage us to be leaders in our community and church. Amen.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Dr. Glen Bell
We find our identity in creation through God’s nourishing love.
Named and claimed in the waters of baptism,
we are grounded in grace and rooted in goodness,
empowered as heirs to the covenant
and marked as God’s beloved children.
We are that – first and last, God’s beloved.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Emma Nickel
Blessed are the ones who lose track of time and never wear a watch.
And, blessed are the ones whose Google calendars are a jampacked rainbow of colors.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Elizabeth Kanerva
Go out from this time of sacred worship prepared in both mind and heart to reflect God’s wisdom in all that you say and do.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Rebecca Mallozzi
I know you are.
I know you wonder how to still have energy when so much keeps happening at once. I know you wonder how to address it all. I know you wonder what good news the people in your circles of care need to hear. I know you wonder what good news you yourself need to hear. I know you are tired. I know you have moments when the energy is good and the vibes are pleasant and your faith in humanity is restored. I know there are moments when, like Moses, you shake your head at God and want to just say, “God, deal with your humans.” I know you are busy and thinking about Sabbath. I know you are gearing up for the tensions of this historical election season (don’t they all seem historical now?).
