by Robyn Davis Sekula
At the Presbyterian Foundation Board of Trustees meeting on June 15 in Louisville, Troy Marables was promoted from Vice President to Senior Vice President of Human Resources.
Troy has served as the leader of Human Resources at the Foundation since October 2018. In this position, he oversees the traditional HR functions such as policy development, staffing, employee relations, compensation, payroll, benefits administration, and organizational and employee development for the Foundation as well as its subsidiary, New Covenant Trust Company. In addition, his responsibilities include the oversight of facilities management and serving as staff to the Foundation’s Board of Directors Nominations Task Force that is charged with identifying future trustees for the Foundation’s Board.
“Troy’s commitment to excellence shows in his outstanding work as a key member of our leadership team, particularly as we’ve made our way through the challenges of the pandemic,” says Rev. Dr. Tom Taylor, President and CEO of the Presbyterian Foundation. “He has played a central role in building a great team. He has integrated well with others in leadership to create the policies and practices we’ve needed, not only endure the pandemic but to excel. I am so pleased to offer this promotion to Troy as recognition for his diligence, hard work, and exemplary performance.”
In the fall of 2021, Troy earned Certificated Professional designation from the Society for Human Resources Management. SHRM credentials provide reliable indicators to the global business community that the credential holder had the necessary capabilities in both aspects of HR practice (competencies and knowledge) that are required for effective job performance. The certification process involves intensive study of human resources related topics, relevant research and up-to-date information about employment, all organized by SHRM, the leading provider of certifications for human resource professionals. To receive the certification, participants must pass a rigorous, four-hour exam.
Troy has over 25 years of experience at the Foundation and with New Covenant Trust Company. Troy previously worked for PNC Bank and PNC Mortgage. He studied Business Administration at Florida A&M University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership & Learning (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Louisville. He is a member of the local Society for Human Resources Management chapter.
“I am honored to serve in such a critical capacity during such a pivotal point in our history,” Troy says. “Talent acquisition and retention in this post-pandemic, hybrid work environment during a compression of the available workforce can be challenging at times, but I enjoy the rewarding feeling of identifying candidates that are a good fit for our culture. My goal is to create a culture of transparency, compassion, and diversity that carries this organization forward.”
