Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Adriene Thorne

Martin Luther King, Jr. reminds us that, “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” In the shadow of winter cold we are grateful for glimpses of starlight. In the season following Epiphany, we rejoice in light for our path. As we step into another new year filled with possibility and uncertainty, we step with faith in the God who gathers light and flings it against the darkness, spangling our nights with something oh so good, oh so lovely. Go forth into the darkness, children of God, trusting in the joy that awaits you. Thanks be to God.

Rev. Adriene Thorne
Rev. Adriene Thorne serves as senior minister at Riverside Church in the City of New York. Before leading Riverside, Rev. Thorne served The First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn where she co-founded the award-winning Brooklyn Heights Community Fridge and where the community named her one of the Top Ten Most Impactful People. She earned her Master of Divinity from The Pacific School of Religion.
