Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Rebecca Mallozzi

by Presbyterian Foundation

8Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)

One of my favorite hymns growing up was, “Here I Am, Lord.” I remember writing the hymn number on a slip of paper and putting it my pastor’s mailbox with a request to please sing this hymn as often as possible. I loved this song because of the melody. As I’ve matured, the words have become more powerful, too. “I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.” The power in these words is knowing the Lord will lead me, wherever I go, even when I don’t really want to go. Because if I’m honest, there are times when God shows me the way and I think, “Really? Are you sure?” But God always brings me where God needs me to be, and God never leaves me alone in the middle of it. God doesn’t leave any of us alone, ever. God equips and sustains us.

May you wonder today where God is calling you. May you feel God’s presence with you wherever you are. May God fill you with love and compassion to bring with you wherever you go.
