An Honest Lent: A Prayer of Confession and a Blessing
In the Spirit of Psalm 51
– I didn’t even look at that man on the street.
– I didn’t bother to pray.
– I turned away my when my son came home all muddy.
– I wasn’t very careful that day.
– I hold on to that grudge.
– I forget about justice.
Surround me with truth.
Keep me honest.
Help me see my failings.
Have mercy on me.
Wash me clean.
Put me on the right path.
Then . . .
You will grant your Presence.
Your gift will be a clean heart and renewed spirit.
By grace you will restore.
