In the warmth and freedom of summer we celebrate with those who celebrate – newlyweds, new parents, students with exams completed and days of rest and relaxation stretching before them like so much sand on a beautiful beach. We are also mindful that too many of God’s children are unable to rest from their labors this summer because no work means no income. Even as we pray for these and other children of God around the world, we pray to see that we are all responsible for the rest and relaxation of God’s people and planet. We place these and all things in your hands, Loving God. May the day soon come when all people enjoy the freedom of rest and relaxation and may our lives be a place where your freedom for all is made real.
