Rev. Dr. William Enright is the Founding Karen Lake Buttrey Director Emeritus of the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. He served as Director from 2004-2016, during which time he worked with 3,000 congregations, from various denominations, creating and writing curriculums for “Crediting Congregational Cultures of Generosity.” After consultation with the leadership of Austin Theological Seminary and the Lilly Endowment, he helped create the Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising (ECRF) program in cooperation with several theological seminaries. The ECRF program consists of a four-day seminar followed by a six to 12-month project.
Enright retired as Senior Pastor from Second Presbyterian Church with 23 years of service. During his time at Second Presbyterian, they created the Resident Program in Parish Ministry program, in which young, recently graduated clergy would serve and receive hands-on training in various facets of pastoral life, including fundraising and financial literacy training.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton college, he went on to earn a Master of Theology from McCormick Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
