Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Dr. Glen Bell
by Rev. Dr. Glen Bell

God opens our lives at every turn:
We find our identity in creation through God’s nourishing love.
Named and claimed in the waters of baptism,
we are grounded in grace and rooted in goodness,
empowered as heirs to the covenant
and marked as God’s beloved children.
We are that – first and last, God’s beloved.
We find belonging on the journey of human life.
We are made whole through the sacrificial gifts of others.
We become ourselves in community, in mutual relationships of learning, discovery, and commitment.
We give and receive, as we mentor, guide, encourage – and in turn are mentored, guided, and encouraged.
Both God and our cherished ones invite us to become more than we are through circles of belonging.
We find meaning and purpose as we discern and answer the Holy Spirit’s call.
We each have good work to accomplish.
We are blessed by direction through
the never-ending stories of mercy,
the mystery and clarity of God’s providence,
and the wonder and delight of our daily lives.
May we each receive anew the opportunities of identity, belonging, and purpose.
