Seminaries providing Advent devotionals

December 2, 2016 by Lee Hinson-Hasty

It is a reflective time of year, and particularly now, a year in which we need the light of Christ in our lives. I am grateful for the efforts of those at Presbyterian (U.S.A.) seminaries who write and produce Advent devotionals designed to help guide us in our walk this December.

What is wonderful about these devotionals is hearing from an incredibly diverse group of scholars giving different perspectives on Advent every day. Reading all three of the devotionals we’ve found every day doesn’t take terribly long, and can prompt the deep thinking, stillness and reflection we need during this very busy season.

  • Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary’s Advent devotional can be read online here.
  • Pittsburgh Theological Seminary’s devotional is here.
  • San Francisco Theological Seminary’s Advent devotional is here.
  • Union Presbyterian Seminary will post daily Advent devotions here.

Additionally, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary plans to post four Advent reflections from President Michael Jinkins on his blog during December.

A blessed Advent to you and yours. Now, let us prepare the way for the Lord.
