MRTI Webinar

Join us for a free webinar on values-based investing and corporate responsibility.

This webinar is set for November 16 at 1 p.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Pacific. Registration for the webinar will close at end of business on November 11.

This collaborative webinar will highlight presenters from the Presbyterian Committee on Mission Responsibility Through Investment (MRTI) as well as speakers from the New Covenant Trust Company, a subsidiary of the Presbyterian Foundation.

The Foundation and New Covenant Trust Company, in collaboration with MRTI, are committed to providing Presbyterians approaches to investment strategies that reflect Presbyterian values and that are faithful to the social witness principles of the church, but which also contribute to real impact and positive change made by publicly traded corporations on the issues that matter most deeply to our investors.

Why attend this webinar?

Investors are more aware now than ever of how companies are contributing to or addressing the issues of our time.

Demographic changes, renewed focus through COVID-19, and financial performance have all contributed to a surge in assets to socially responsible or values-based investing strategies. With interest and participation at all time highs, investors are as empowered as they’ve ever been to push for positive change. How an organization witnesses with their investments has never been more important or impactful.

New Covenant Trust Company, housed at the Presbyterian Foundation, offers investment strategies that target companies that have a strong record on diversity, equity and inclusion. Investors can also choose a strategy that avoids fossil fuel companies.

The webinar will explain those and other strategies, and will share ways that Mission Responsibility Through Investment for 50 years has advocated for marginalized communities, for policies and practices that protect people and the planet and many other positions that reflect Presbyterian values. MRTI engages corporations through shareholder advocacy which includes a suite of tactics designed to  push companies to be better corporate citizens.

Speakers will include:

  • Dr. Jerry Cannon, Pastor, C.N. Jenkins Memorial Church, Charlotte, N.C.
  • James Carey, Director, Investment & Portfolio Management Services, New Covenant Trust Company
  • Rob Fohr, Director of Faith-Based Investing and Corporate Engagement for the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.
  • Kerri Allen, Chair, Committee on Mission Responsibility Through Investment
  • Jim Koon, Director of Financial Services, Synod of Lakes & Prairies
