Dr. Deborah Rexrode

Dr. Deborah Rexrode serves the Presbytery of the James as Associate for Stewardship. This position allows her to help congregations with their annual stewardship campaigns and planned giving programs. She has developed a four-week curriculum for Sunday School classes or small group entitled “Cultivating a Culture of Generosity,” which she travels to churches to teach.



Rexrode has served in many positions during her tenure at the Presbytery of the James including coach, pastor, teacher, and resource person. She has done extensive research in stewardship, writing about the motivations for financial giving and giving and the impact on clergy.

Rexrode received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from West Virginia State University. She went on to earn a Master in Sociology of Religion and a Ph.D. in Sociology of Religion from University of Virginia.
