Dr. Deborah Rexrode

Dr. Deborah Rexrode is currently serving as the Director of Development at Keswick School in Keswick, Virginia. Deborah came to this position after serving as the Associate for Stewardship for the Presbytery of the James. In that position, she helped congregations with their annual stewardship campaigns and planned giving programs. She developed a four-week curriculum for Sunday School classes or small groups entitled “Cultivating a Culture of Generosity,” which she traveled to churches to teach.



Rexrode served in many positions during her tenure at the Presbytery of the James including coach, pastor, teacher, and resource person. She has done extensive research in stewardship, writing about the motivations for financial giving and the impact clergy and other leaders have to create an environment of generosity. This is the background Deborah is now taking into her new position.

Rexrode received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from West Virginia State University. She went on to earn a Master in Sociology of Religion and a Ph.D. in Sociology of Religion from University of Virginia.
