²¹Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” ²²When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” – John 20:21-22

The Sunday after Easter is sometimes called Bright Sunday or Holy Humor Sunday. It’s a day to keep the Easter celebration going, offering our laughter to Jesus. In this Easter-tide, we remember how foolish Death must have felt when Death realized even though Death has power, Death’s power is no match for Jesus.

We know Death has a sting, but we remember that in Jesus, there is resurrection.

We have not always used our laughter for healing, and for that, we are sorry.

Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously, and for that, we repent.

As Jesus breathed new life into His disciples, Jesus breathes new life into us, giving us a fresh start to live as Children of God in a new way. May the Lord grant you peace and laughter and may the simple things of life remind you of the great joy we have in Christ.
