로마서 13:8-10

서로 사랑하는 것 외에는 아무에게도 빚진 것이 없나니 남을 사랑하는 사람이 율법을 다 이루었음이라. "간음하지 말라, 살인하지 말라, 도둑질하지 말라, 탐내지 말라"는 계명과 다른 모든 계명은 "네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라"는 이 한 마디로 요약됩니다. 사랑은 이웃에게 악을 행하지 않으므로 사랑은 율법의 완성이라고 할 수 있습니다.

Love your neighbor as yourself has a double meaning that was just revealed to me a few years ago. I’ve always focused on the “love your neighbor” part of this command. A couple of years ago, a colleague of mine pointed out that this is also a commandment to love ourselves. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot love our neighbors. Self-deprecation and believing that we are not worthy is a detriment to living out our faith. The Bible clearly reminds us that God loves us no matter what; we are beloved children of God, fearfully and wonderfully made. So we are called to love ourselves, so that in turn we may be able to love others. A reminder of the call to love oneself is an important part of this passage to be explored.
