What is Big Tent?
Since its inception in 2009, Big Tent has been a “Big Presbyterian family reunion.” It is the assembly between General Assemblies that brings us together to celebrate the Body of Christ and engage in deeper conversations about how we can be the community called to be this age; to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ as children of God whoever we are, wherever we are.
Several speakers have been confirmed for this year’s conference. The Rev. Dr. Amaury Tañón-Santos, from the Synod of the Northeast, will preach during opening worship. Rev. Dr. Soon-Chan Rah, associate professor of Church Growth and Evangelism at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago is scheduled as the first plenary speaker. Closing worship will be led by Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems, a Hebrew Bible Scholar, and will be a celebration of the life of the late Rev. Dr. Katie Cannon, the first black woman ordained as a minister in the PC(USA).
More information will become available as the event gets closer. You can get more info by periodically reviewing the Big Tent event website.
