Catawba Presbytery: History and Legacy

From just after the Civil War until the Presbyterian Church reunion, there was an important organization that served African American Presbyterians in the PC(USA): Catawba Presbytery. This presbytery was formed by three white pastors who did not like the way that formerly enslaved persons were overlooked and unserved by the Southern Presbyterian church. Their work formed a presbytery, and much more, including educational institutions.
