Online Giving Reaches Record High
According to Blackbaud’s 5th Annual Charitable Giving Report, overall charitable giving in the United States increased 1 percent in 2016, with overall online giving growing 7.9 percent compared to 2015. As a percentage of total nonprofit fundraising, online gifts reached a record high in 2016. Faith-based nonprofits saw a growth of 8.8 percent in online giving. According to a recently published report in the Chronicle of Philanthropy about online giving trends for 2016, religion-related groups received more than 124,000 gifts totaling $20.3 million.
